mayberry.days

For all of you non-North Carolinians that are not familiar with Mt. Airy...it is the fictional home of the Andy Griffith Show; and for all of you that are not familiar with the Andy Griffith Show...it is a black and white TV show set in the 1960's that still runs to this day.  I grew up to watching the show every evening with my parents...my Dad loves the show and even quotes certain episodes.
Today, my mom, Sawyer, and I went to Mt. Airy for the 50th annual Mayberry Days.  We had fun walking through downtown, took a train ride tour, and ate at the Blue Bird dinner, where we had the best banana sundae and orangeade.

three.month.birthday

Sawyer is now three months!  This has been such a fun month...his personality is really starting to show!
Just like last month...there have been many first this month:
*laughs *drooling...drooling...did I say drooling * gnawing on fist *a second roll is starting to form on his thighs *first trip to Litchfield *staying with Ms. Janet, his sitter *first and second NC State tailgate and football game *loss of newborn hair...and new hair growing *first cold/fever; which meant first real doctor visit and first day to work with Daddy *first professional photo shoot (can't wait to see the proofs) *first visit from cousins Jack and George *sitting up in the Bumbo *pulling himself up while holding onto our fingers

It was today that a cartoon picture of Charlie Brown crossed my desk at work and I realized how much Sawyer resembles Charlie Brown...see for yourself!
Sawyer is trying his hardest to roll over...should be any day!  Looking forward to the first in the fourth month!

happy.birthday.grammie

Happy Birthday Mom! My mom's birthday was yesterday and I just want her to know what an amazing woman and mother she is! I've never met anyone who wants to please and help others as much as her!  She's such a joy to be around and I'm so thankful that I have her as a mom and can truly say that in my adult life she has become my best friend! I love that after Ragan she's the first one I talk to in the mornings and I always know that it's the first of many conversations I'll have with her that day! I can only pray and hope that I will be like her and have the type of relationship with Sawyer as I do with her! Thank you mom for everything and I love you so much!

It was a full day, so that is why we are one day late on her birthday post.  We celebrated her day with a NC State tailgate and football game.  The best present she received was a "W."

yucky.cold

Poor little boy...Sawyer has his first cold.  Last night he did not sleep well, and woke up with a low-grade fever.  We went to the doctor this afternoon and had to sit on the "sick side" for the first time.  Dr. Goodman said there was nothing we could do for his symptoms except let them ride out.  Hopefully he will be feeling better for football tomorrow and his three month photo shoot on Sunday.
While we were at the doctors they weighed him...a whooping 14 lbs. 7.5 oz.  for an 11 week old!

Sawyer hanging out in Mommy and Daddy's bed watching TV.
Poor thing can not breath through his nose...
therefore his mouth is constantly wide open.

We hope you have a great birthday.
Can't wait to see you in October!

litchfield.by.the.sea

Sunday night my mom, Sawyer, and I headed down to Litchfield...we left Raleigh at 9:00pm and arrived at 12:50pm...with no potty breaks...no coffee..two milkshakes...and one sleepy baby.  Sawyer slept the entire way, even through the red light we ran!
Litchfield is my favorite place on Earth!  We have been coming to Litchfield since I was 4 months old.  This is the place where I learned to swim in the pool and ocean...the place where I would ride a banana bike for hours...the place I have stubbed my toes more times than you can count...the place I have celebrated many birthdays...the place where I illegally fed a wild alligator a whole chicken...the place where I learned to cast the fishing rod, but would not touch my "big catch."...and the place where I learned to drive a car.  I cannot wait for Sawyer to have similar memories at Litchfield!

The most relaxing and beautiful place on Earth.

Day 1

Napping in Grammie's bed
Spending time at the beach

Sawyer loved playing in the pool.  We staying in the pool for 45 minutes!
River City Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants...it's a place where peanut shells cover the floor.  Sawyer was determined to have a couple of peanuts himself.

Ellis and Sawyer watching football on the TV at River City.
Sawyer is a true man...he loves TV!

Day 2
On Tuesday we enjoyed a lazy day...we did not even make it to the pool until 2:00pm. I can now tell that I am a mommy, because one year ago I would have been on the beach at 10:00am! After relaxing at the pool for a couple of hours we came back to the house to freshen up before heading out to dinner.
Tuesday morning, we walked to the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
If you look closely at the bottom of the stroller, you will see our groceries!

Drunken Jack's was my favorite restaurant as a child...the wait was always ridiculously long, but we thought since there was only 2 in our party the wait would be short.  Ummmm NO, the wait was 1 hour 45 minutes...yes you read that correctly...1 hour 45 minutes, and all we wanted was the salad bar.
So we got take-out!

We enjoyed our Drunken Jack's take-out salad bar on the deck by the ocean, while Sawyer took a nap.
After dinner, we headed back to the grocery store to pick up the frozen items that would have melted on our morning walk.

Day 3
My dad arrived late Tuesday night...we had a relaxing morning with mom's homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.  The girls went shopping at the Pawley's Island shops before heading out to the beach.

Sawyer relaxing on the beach!

Day 4
We did not have any picture worthy moments today...we spent the day on the beach and ate dinner at home...a yummy local SC vegetable dinner. Only one more day til Daddy comes!

Day 5
What a busy day it has been...and we still have guests to arrive!!  Our day began with Mommy's favorite place for breakfast....Cracker Barrel.

Sawyer's first of many trips to Cracker Barrell!

Mommy's breakfast...Sunrise Special

Next, we headed to Broadway at the Beach in North Mrytle.

Then, Sawyer experienced...
We had perfect weather on the beach this afternoon.  Sawyer falls asleep on our walk to the beach and takes his afternoon nap in the sun tent.  After he woke up we had a mini photo shoot.
My favorite picture of Sawyer!
We are waiting on Daddy, Ellis, and Aunt Sarah to arrive...more pictures to come!!!

Day 6
Daddy and Tucker are here!!!  Aunt Sarah, Ellis, Tucker, and Ragan arrived last night.  We enjoyed a perfect day at the beach and a great dinner at Gilligand's.

Daddy had to take Sawyer outside during dinner for the first time.
He was a little fussy, but was great once the food arrived.

first.NCSU.football.game

Last Saturday, Sawyer attended his first football game- the 2010 season opener vs Western Carolina. The experience started at 1:00 pm with the CALS tailgate followed by the NCSU FAN ZONE and parking lot tailgate. The weathe4r was perfect for the 6:00 kickoff. Sawyer napped during the first half but woke up for the infamous "Power Sound of the South" (AKA...the NCSU Band) halftime show, and stayed awake to celebrate the first win of the season!

Enjoying the parking lot tailgate

Chillin' with Daddy

Sawyer's new NCSU kicks.  Thanks Marcy and Alan!
And yes Cynthia...they fit...size 3-6 months!
