big.boy.chair

Sawyer's two month check-up went great.  Dr. Goodman said he is "growing like a weed," and I will have to agree.  You really can tell a huge difference between his one and two month photo in his "Sawyer chair."

Two month numbers:
  • Weight: 12 lbs. 4 oz. (55%)
  • Length: 25 inches (97%)
  • Head Circumference: 39 3/4 cm (48%)
Since he is holding his head up so well, we decided to give the Bumbo seat a whirl...and he did so great!  I have a feeling he is going to like sitting up in his chair instead of laying in his bouncy seat.

Hanging out in his Bumbo seat!

jack's.first.day.of.school

Our nephew, Jack, started school today in Denver, CO.  In one week and a day the Bertsch family will here, in Raleigh, to visit.  We are really looking forward to Sawyer meeting his cousins, Jack and George.  Pictures to come!
Jack is ready with his backpack and lunchbox

tx.visits.nc

Ragan's cousin, Martiel, moved to NC from TX eight months ago...and is moving back to TX on Saturday.  We have enjoyed her here in NC, but TX is home!  Her mom, Aunt Karen, is visiting this week to help her pack up and drive back to TX.  Last night they came over so Sawyer could meet his Great Aunt Karen...we enjoyed a great dinner and wish Martiel all the best in Houston!

sawyer.loves.TV

Sawyer enjoys hanging out in his bouncy seat and watching the bright colors on the TV.  His current favorite show is "Wipeout."  Thanks to Mae Mae and Papa Williams we have brand new 42" plasma flat screen TV...I don't know who likes it the most...Ragan, Sawyer, or myself!

two.month.birthday

Our little boy is growing up so fast. It is hard to believe that he is two months old. We have had such a fun time watching him grow up and learn new things.

This month has been a month of firsts...
*first true smile*sleeping through the night*coos*first beach trip*playing in the pool and ocean*staying in the nursery at night*first babysitter*mommy's first day back to work*sleeping in our big boy crib*first roll on our leg*out growing 0-3 month clothes*

We have our two month check-up on Friday. Can't wait to see how much he has grown this month.

pool.time.and.puffins

Yesterday we spent the day at the pool with Sarah and Ellis. This has been the first weekend we have been home and not had a single thing to do.

Sawyer took a long 2 1/2 hour nap while we laid out perfecting our suntans.
Sawyer's first dip in our neighborhood pool. He loves the pool as much as he love his baths. Maybe he will be the next Michael Phelps??

Ragan loves snoballs more than anything.
So we took a trip to Puffin's snoballs for a late night treat.

best.friend.octopus

Sawyer loves to play on his play mat and especially loves to play with his octopus. The octopus plays music and makes ocean sounds...Sawyer smiles and coos while swinging his arms and making the octopus swivel around and around.

Tucker likes to play with the octopus too! It just the opposite of the saying that the younger child shadows the older child....Tucker loves to play with Sawyer's toys.

abbie.visits

My college roommate, Abbie, came to meet Sawyer on her most recent trip home to North Carolina. Abbie now lives in New York City so she was not able to be here when Sawyer was born. She and her mother came over for a great visit...Sawyer was on his best behavior and slept through the entire visit. We enjoyed chatting and catching up and can't wait for you to come back to NC, Abbie!

sawyer's.first.babysitter

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine from my home church in Greensboro got married. My whole family was invited, and I made a promise when I got married that I would never bring my child to a wedding...so Rachel, my next door neighbor in Greensboro (also known as my Greensboro Granny), babysat Sawyer while we enjoyed a great time.

hanging.out.with.griffin

My friend, Karen, and her 8 month old son, Griffin, came over for a "play date" and lunch. We enjoyed yummy Village Deli Chicken salad sandwiches and caught up on life. After lunch we played on the ground with the boys...they really didn't play together, but we can't wait til they are older and best buds.

upchurch.family.vacation

This year for our family vacation we went to Emerald Isle for the week. It was Sawyer's first trip to the beach and my last full week of maternity leave. We spent much of the week relaxing and hanging out with Sawyer. As you can imagine he received lots of attention.

Looks like we are moving for college... but no...just going to the beach!

Sawyer is glad to be at the beach

Ready for the ocean in his bathing suit and matching top...thanks Aunt Sarah

Nothing beats a nap by the ocean

Hanging out with Pop

Cuddling with Aunt Sarah

Day two at the ocean...in his surf suit in his sun tent

Day three of naps by the ocean

Taking a break from the sun and napping with Daddy

We took family beach photos...enjoy a preview of the amateur, thank you tripod, photo shoot. I will post a link to the full album later.

new.bern

On our way to Emerald Isle for the Upchurch family vacation we stopped in New Bern. Sawyer met his Great-Great-Aunt Lip and my cousin Laura, who lives in Savannah, happened to be in town as well. We had a great visit and look forward to spending more time with Lip during Ragan's Cycle North Carolina Spring Ride. Ragan's event is in Oriental this year and New Bern is close by...since Sawyer will be joining us this year I don't think staying in the car or tent will do...so we will be staying at Lip's home.

Sawyer with his Great-Great Aunt Lip, not many people have "Great Greats"

We ate lunch at Morgan's in downtown New Bern...they have the best chicken salad...

They serve their chicken salad on a half of pineapple...it is so yummy!
