november.in.a.nut.shell.2 months late

four month stats
On November 5th, Sawyer had his four month check up.  Dr. Goodman said he is doing great, and that we could begin rice cereal and then start baby food in a couple of weeks after the rice.
Length: 27 inches (95%)
Weight: 15 lbs. 1 ounce (50%)
Head: 41.7cm (25%)

first taste of solids
Sawyer loves solids...he sat up like a big boy in his bumbo and ate a whole serving of rice cereal on the first try.  He enjoyed eating the bib in between spoonfuls of the rice.

 cousin katie babysits
Ragan and I enjoyed a night out while my cousin, Katie, babysat Sawyer.  We went to see a movie and then joined friends for Mexican.  Katie loves babies and has spoiled Sawyer with gifts.  Thanks for keeping Sawyer, Katie!!
ncsu homecoming parade
This year NC State's homecoming game was against our in-state rival Wake Forest.  The theme of the parade was "No Wake Zone."  Even though the weather was frigid, we enjoyed the parade down Hillsborough Street.

ncsu homecoming game
The weather was perfect for a Saturday afternoon football game, especially a victory; 38-3 over Wake Forest.

happy belated 25th birthday rah rah
On November 19th, my sister turned 25!  She has taught me a lot about enjoying little things in life.  Sarah is much more adventurous & risky than me & I envy that. She is sassy + sweet all at the same time.  Rah Rah lives here in Raleigh and comes to visit Sawyer very regularly...she is the one who has given Sawyer a book for every one his "month birthdays" and is very creative with the gifts she gives.  Sarah is a wonderer, played with her cinnamon roll, outie, belly button when she was little, and loves teaching her 3rd grade students.  I'm thankful for you sister & the ways you add laughter to our life. I love the way you want things to have meaning & how you want to help people. I've had a lot of people tell me over the years how blessed I am to have a sister like you. & it's true. so very true. I hope your birthday was all you wanted it to be.
WE LOVE YOU!!

sawyer's dedication
November 21st, also Sawyer's 5 month birthday, was special to us in so many ways. Our baby boy was dedicated on that day. He was dedicated in the same spot where my Daddy went to church as a young boy.

Faith was very much a part of my life growing up. Our family went to church (almost) every Sunday… church choir, Sunday school, youth group… the whole bit.
Those lessons and experiences helped shape me into the woman I am today. Without them, I’d be so much less of a daughter. so much less of a wife. so much less of a mom.
Sawyer's dedication was the first step on his journey of faith. I feel privileged and so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to introduce him to it.  We are so thankful for our extended family that was there to share in Sawyer's special day.

Let me tell you something… dedication/baptism outfits are HARD TO FIND. no joke. unless you want a bunch of silk and ruffles and satin and lace or lots of baby blue, then you’re out of luck.  And we know we could not put him in baby blue (the color of the UNC tar heels) since this day was the day after the BIG UNC vs. NCSU game...which by the way the WOLFPACK won! whoop whoop!

first visit to the country AKA spring hope, nc
My grandmother is from a small town in NC...Spring Hope.  We headed down to the country to play around and so Sawyer could meet his Great-Great Uncle Alvin.  It was a beautiful day...perfect for shooting the guns and an impromptu photo shoot.

first trip to louisiana, first trip on a plane, & first thanksgiving
We head down south for Thanksgiving...it was great trip!  Sawyer did awesome on the airplane...not one tear...we ate lots of turkey, met his other great grandmother, attended his Louisiana sip 'n see...and enjoyed time with our Louisiana family and friends.
